EUA-ERU/CER Swaps
Kyoto Protocol projects generate emissions credits that can be used for compliance under the EU ETS scheme. They are called Emission Reduction Units (ERU)from Joint Implementation projects, or Certified Emission Reductions (CER) from the Clean Development Mechanism. EU ETS compliance companies can use these emission credits up to a certain limit instead of the EUAs, thanks to the EU Directive 2004/101/EC. Since there is presently a price difference, and the ERU/CER credits can be purchase on exchanges virtually risk free, clients stand to make certain profit.
JI and CDM Projects
We are involved as developers or advisors in a number of JI and CDM projects in eastern and southern Europe. Our clients can purchase future emission credits from these projects at a discount over carbon exchange prices.
